Leading the Way in Primary Care
May 16, 2019

"Rising health care costs are prompting fundamental changes in health care delivery and generating innovative approaches to combining teamwork, culture and technology into systems that work for patients and physicians alike. Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care Director Russell Phillips and two students, Mark Herzog and Megan Townsend, discuss the transformation underway that can lead to improved care and better health outcomes for patients in the future."

Studying for Medical Board Exams
November 2017

"Mark was an incredible study partner. His physical stamina in the outdoors was only matched by his ability to concentrate for hours on end in the library and classroom, where he often pushed his study partners to test their own limits. And while he could brilliantly break down complex topics into more comprehensible pieces for others, perhaps his most beloved attribute was his incredible timing for comedic relief during a study session -- he knew when to defuse stress with lightheartedness and make everyone feel better. In this short video, Mark and his classmate Rob Weatherford share a laugh (that wonderful, unrestrained, uproarious Mark laugh!) while they study kidney and lung pathology for the Step 1 Board Exam."

Scoring the Game Winner at EHS, Senior Year
September 10, 2010

“The winning goal began with a throw in from Woody Dewing to Adala Moto near midfield in the 78th minute. Adala Moto combined with Tshuma, who played to a slashing run from Solly Thomas on the left.  Thomas forced the PVI right back into a desperation tackle and Herzog exploded onto the loose ball to drive a shot off the foot of the onrushing defender that spun over the keeper’s head and into the net for the dramatic go ahead goal.”

Climbing with Friends and Friendly Porcupines in NH
August 2019

"This is a video Mark took at the end of a climbing day in August 2019 at Cathedral Ledge in NH. Mark had recently broken his wrist, but it wasn't slowing him down much. We had a fun day together, got rained on briefly, and saw a beautiful rainbow from halfway up the cliff. We walked back to the base to get our stuff. When we arrived, Mark spotted this porcupine, said 'quick, give me your phone,' and started filming and narrating the porcupine's adventure. I love how this video captures Mark's silly sense of humor and his boundless enthusiasm for life."

Hiking the Presidential Traverse in Peak Autumn
October 2015

"Fall of our first year of medical school, Mark, another classmate Josh, and I cooked up the idea to hike the Presidential Traverse of the White Mountains in New Hampshire in one-go (a walk in the park by Mark standards). With his typical psych, Mark made this long, exhausting day into a fun, exhilarating adventure. It's hard to hear through the tearing wind at the peak, but Mark is commenting on the "leaf peepers" down below with his usual humorous take on life as we soak up the glory of a New England fall."

Paddling to a Climbing Route in New Zealand
January 2020

"Mark (in the green kayak and rocking Liz's orange sun hoody) is paddling and conversing with friends in New Zealand en route to a weekend of climbing."
